Mitigation

Mitigation is one of the critical pillars of climate action that reduces GHG emissions and promotes its absorption by forests and other emission sinks. Examples include reducing the use of fossil fuels by improving energy efficiency, promoting renewable energy sources which do not emit greenhouse gases, preventing leakage, recovery, and destruction of fluorocarbon refrigerants with high greenhouse effects, conserving forests which absorb and store carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The OECC implements and supports climate change mitigation globally through various projects.
