Support for the JPRSI

In collaboration with diverse stakeholders, we support member companies with their overseas expansion ambitions, adapting solutions to the local needs.

The Japan Platform for Redesign: Sustainable Infrastructure (JPRSI) is a public-private platform established by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) in September 2020 as a framework to support the activities of private companies and other organizations that are engaged in the deployment of overseas environmental infrastructure*. We support the activities of private companies, local governments and financial institutions that have various technologies and knowledge related to environmental infrastructure.

*In the JPRSI, the “environmental infrastructure” is broadly defined as hard infrastructure, technology, services, consultation, etc., contributing to decarbonization and reducing environmental impacts (more so than ones commonly used), and promotes its overseas expansion. Infrastructure in all sectors can become “environmental infrastructure” by improving its environmental performance.

Roles of the OECC

The OECC has been working with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan since the establishment of JPRSI and has continued to serve as the JPRSI secretariat. Cooperating with various stakeholders from a neutral standpoint in the public and private sectors, we aim to contribute to solving local environmental issues and creating projects that benefit local people by supporting the overseas expansion of member companies with environmental technologies.
Specifically, we provide support for project identification by accumulating and sharing local information on the needs of partner countries, coordinating among the stakeholders and creating business matching opportunities.

Our Business

Providing Information for Members

The OECC holds seminars on timely topics. Past seminars have covered how to utilize the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for overseas deployment of environmental infrastructure and on nature-based solutions (NbS). We also introduce case studies of city-to-city collaboration and publicly-solicited projects by the Ministry of Environment, Japan, having held seminars on environmental business development in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan as well as in Africa.
Our email newsletters exclusive to JPRSI members provide real-time information on public solicitations for government-sponsored projects, procurement information on international organizations, and information on seminars and events.
In addition, through the JPRSI website, we share local information on individual countries and cities, as well as information on domestic and overseas support programs that can be utilized for overseas expansion. We support companies and organizations who are considering overseas expansion so that they can promote their businesses by utilizing this information.

Information Dissemination for Japan and Overseas

The OECC has set up a permanent online pavilion on the JPRSI website and disseminates information on members of JPRSI, both domestically and internationally. This online pavilion introduces the members’ projects, initiatives and technologies. The technologies are compiled and publicized as technology lists. This enables interested parties to easily access the site in Japan and abroad, and by connecting the stakeholders with the members, we aim to create new businesses and opportunities for business matching.
Furthermore, we participate in overseas and domestic exhibition events to introduce JPRSI’s activities and its website, so that many people can utilize JPRSI’s services.
We also distribute email newsletters to promote the use of JPRSI by overseas stakeholders.

Support for Project Identification and Business Matching

We respond to technical inquiries from local chambers of commerce and international organizations such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and GCF Green Climate Fund (GCF). We also respond to interest inquiries from overseas companies to the JPRSI members and assist in matching members with their counterparts.

Business matching seminars are held with specified overseas cities to provide opportunities for JPRSI member companies to interact and cooperate with local companies and organizations.

In addition to this, we have set up a consultation desk to respond to various inquiries from the members.

Through these wide-ranging support activities, we actively facilitate the international expansion of the member companies.
